Intercollegiate Committees
of The Claremont Colleges
In order to promote intercollegiate academic cooperation, planning and
communication, the Council of The Claremont Colleges has established a
series of intercollegiate committees which include key representatives
from each member of the consortium. These committees play a vital role
in ensuring that the work of the consortium proceeds effectively and that
we maximize the resources and potential of this group of institutions
of higher education.
Academic Deans Committee (ADC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to oversee and coordinate intercollegiate academic programs and
services, facilitate communication between and among colleges on academic
matters such as position, descriptions and searches, cross registration,
informal cooperation in academic programs, support of academic intercollegiate
conferences, symposia and events, and new intercollegiate academic programs.
Business and Financial Affairs Committee (BFAC) of The Claremont
Colleges
Purpose: to engage in strategic planning, policy and operational issues
arising out of consortial business, financial, facilities and human resource
interests and services. Those services include Financial Services, Physical
Plant, Risk Management/Benefits and Telephone Services. The BFAC also
shares responsibility with other intercollegiate committee(s) on books,
campus safety, campus dining and information services.
Human Resources Committee (HRC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to provide perspective on personnel policies, practices and
programs that affect the faculty and staff of The Claremont Colleges.
Facilities Management Committee (FMC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to engage in facilities strategic planning, policy and operational
issues arising out of consortial facilities management needs and interests.
• Assist the Colleges’ facilities and maintenance departments
to develop and maintain high standards of service in the administration,
maintenance, operation and planning of the Colleges’ facilities
while promoting professionalism and staff development in the support
of the individual missions of The Claremont Colleges.
• Make recommendations regarding major facilities management policy
decisions to the Business and Financial Affairs Committee.
• Make recommendations regarding levels and nature of service
provided by Physical Plant to the Business and Financial Affairs Committee.
• Assist the BFAC to identify and address annually issues of strategic
facilities management importance to the consortium, presenting recommendations
for action to the BFAC.
Consortial Advancement Committee (CAC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to engage in consortium-wide strategic planning, institutional
advancement and public affairs efforts, as requested by the Council and
CEO of the Claremont University Consortium.
• Collaborate among the Colleges, and between the Colleges and CUC
to promote the recognition of The Claremont Colleges consortium
• Identify and address strategic advancement issues of common concern
to the Colleges and/or CUC
• Provide guidance and assistance, as requested, in garnering funding
for CUC and the consortium.
• Assist the CEO and/or her designee in advancement activities of
CUC, the services and The Claremont Colleges consortium as requested.
Information Technology Committee (ITC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to engage in strategic planning, policy and operational issues
arising out of consortial information technology interests and services.
ITC promotes the colleges’ shared interests in effectively administered
CUC services, makes recommendations regarding major IT-related policy
decisions for CUC services to the CEO, works with the CEO of CUC to identify
and address annually issues of strategic importance to the consortium,
presenting recommendations for action to the CEO and the Council, receives
information regarding levels of service and service satisfaction, helps
to identify strengths and areas of improvement of appropriate CUC services
and collaborates with the Business and Financial Affairs Committee on
matters pertaining to policy and funding of consortial IT activities.
Student Affairs Committee (SAC) of The Claremont Colleges
Purpose: to engage in strategic planning and focus on policy and operational
issues arising out of inter-campus student life interest and consortial
services. Services include:Office of the Black Student Affairs; Office
of the Chaplains; Chicano-Latino Student Affairs; Counseling Center; Club
Sports; Health Education Outreach; and Student Health Services.
