There are two mentor programs on campus for queer students: the Queer, Questioning and Allied Mentor Program and the Queer Faculty and Staff Mentor Program. The first has fellow students as mentors and the second utilizes the queer faculty and staff as mentors. You can be a mentee in one or the other or both, depending on what you want to get out of the program. Email links are provided after the mission statement of each.

Queer, Questioning and Allied Mentor Program (QQAMP)

The Queer, Questioning and Allied Mentor Program (QQAMP) is a five-college program open to all students designed to provide students with support, one-on-one interactions, information, and a way to learn more and get involved with the queer, questioning and allied community on campus. The QQAMP mentors are students from all five schools who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight. They are trained and can provide support and informed guidance on any queer-related issue, including, but not limited to:

• Self acceptance as lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer or transgender.
• Coming out to friends and/or family
• Finding resources at the college, local, and national levels
• Learning what it means to be a good ally to the queer community
• Working through confusion about sexual orientation and/or gender identity
  Meeting other queer, questioning, and allied students on the campuses and in the surrounding community
• Understanding how sexual orientation and/or gender identity intersect with other aspects of identity, including race, sex, religion, physical ability, culture, class, etc.

Confidentiality is of paramount importance for QQAMP. Each mentee's involvement in the Mentor Program will not be known by anyone except the mentors unless he or she wishes otherwise. The mentor/mentee relationship will be driven by the wants and needs of the mentee. QQAMP will host various events throughout the year, including an orientation, parties, study breaks, workshops, and speakers.

Queer Faculty and Staff Mentor Program

The mission of the Queer Faculty and Staff Mentor Program is to pair queer faculty and staff with queer and questioning students in order to provide them with guidance and support throughout their college career. Queer faculty and staff mentors assist students as they develop academically, professionally, and socially as members of the five college community and the surrounding world. Mentors help students address issues of identity while also helping them find a healthy balance between leadership positions and their academic responsibilities. Our goal is to foster community building and encourage more faculty/staff and student interaction.
