| Central Facilities Services (CFS) is the organization
which provides support to the Claremont Colleges for all building
maintenance. CFS provides most of its service to the Colleges on a
fee-for-service basis. The Claremont Colleges have the option of
purchasing their building maintenance services from any vendor they
choose. As a consequence, CFS is motivated to provide quality
services at a very competitive cost.
Building Maintenance Services
The range of our building maintenance services includes:
- Carpentry work, including building construction, millwork, and
furniture repair
- Painting, both interior and exterior
- Sign making
- Locksmith work, to including traditional lock devices as well as
electronic devices
- Heating Systems
- Plumbing
- Air Conditioning and ventilation
- Electrical work, both high voltage and low

Equipment Repair
CFS performs repairs and maintenance on all its own trucks and heavy
equipment. We repair electric golf carts for the colleges, and
offer extensive metal fabrication services.
Electric Utility
CFS serves as the electric utility company for six of the seven
colleges. Electrical power is purchased from Southern California
Edison and then distributed to the campus via underground electrical
distribution lines which we own and maintain. The CFS electrical
distribution system also includes five major emergency generator plants
to provide partial power when Edison is unable to.
Engineering Services
In-house engineers provide design services for building addition or
renovation projects. They maintain an archive of all construction
plans and documents, and manage our construction and licensing records,
as well as environmental permits.
