Position Summary: The Digital Production Librarian for the Claremont University Consortium will work with faculty and staff from the seven Claremont Colleges and librarians on digitization projects for dissemination in the Claremont Colleges Digital Library (CCDL) and manage the full operations of the Digital Production Center including staffing, budget, digital conversion, metadata application, quality controls, production workflows, reports, cost analysis and documentation for training, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Digital Initiatives, Records Management and Archives.
Position Type and Compensation: Full-time, regular, exempt position, benefits-eligible. Compensation: minimum $45,000 annually.
Essential Functions:
Strategic planning for the Digital Production Center.
Manage the operations of the Digital Production Center.
Purchase, maintain and upgrade digitization hardware and software.
Collaborate with library staff and college faculty to select appropriate materials for CCDL collections.
Design and implement production workflows for digitization and metadata application.
Schedule digitization/metadata projects and ensure quality outputs.
Provide written progress reports on digital projects.
Determine digitization cost for each project.
Identify digital storage needs and recommend storage medium.
Train faculty, students and staff from the Colleges on digitization.
Effective outreach to faculty and students to promote the growth and use of the Claremont Colleges Digital Library.

Requirements:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program.
Minimum 3 years experience working in an academic digital production environment.

Experience with digital conversion for all formats including audio and video.
Knowledge of current digitization best practices for all formats.
Experience applying Dublin Core Metadata Elements and technical metadata for supporting long-term archiving.
Knowledge of current and emerging metadata standards such as METS, MODS, PREMIS, DDI, etc.
Proficiency using FTP, VPN, shared drives and Microsoft Office Suite software, particularly Excel.
Understanding of copyright laws and rights management issues in a digital environment.

Position Summary: The Claremont University Consortium (CUC) Environmental Health and Safety Officer will oversee chemical, biological, and radiation safety for The Claremont Colleges and will ensure compliance with EPA, Cal OSHA, California Department of Public Health, and other regulatory agency requirements. The officer will assist management and laboratory professionals on each of the campuses in their efforts to safely manage hazardous materials and will review campus plans that establish safety procedures and protocols within laboratories and support areas.

Essential Functions:
Audits the Chemical Hygiene Plans for the Individual Claremont Colleges:
Reviews the regulatory compliance status of campus plans.
Write reports for required annual review and update of the written program (as needed) based on regulatory changes, additions or deletions, evaluation of implementation of plan components, including recommendations to address compliance deficiencies as identified; documentation of review process and identification of actionable items for plan improvement, such as proper storage of chemicals, identification of necessary safety equipment and engineering controls, proper storage and disposal of wastes.
Provides guidance and assistance with training for the Chemical Hygiene Officer at each institution.
Performs Plan Area Audits:
Inspects research laboratories, teaching laboratories, storage facilities, and associated prep room areas.
Reviews proper storage, use, and handling of hazardous materials and waste.
Reviews correct labeling and MSDS information.
Identifies specific personnel monitoring and environmental surveillance issues.
Reviews general safety conditions and provides general chemical safety guidance.
Assists the Biological and Radiation Safety Officers at the Individual Claremont Colleges:
Reviews the management of physical and health risks associated with infectious agents, potentially infectious material, recombinant materials, and biological toxins.
Provides guidance on acquisition, use, disposal, and transportation of radioisotopes for teaching and research, and ensures that all personnel are adequately trained for such use.
Monitors the control of laser hazards.
Provides guidance and assistance with training for the Radiation Safety Officer at each institution.
Requirements:
Knowledge of current practices in fields of environmental science and public health as they relate to hazardous materials management; radiological materials management; water quality, liquid and solid waste management; industrial hygiene; chemistry and laboratory techniques to identify hazardous materials and epidemiological hazards; state and federal laws (including the Uniform Fire Code), California Health and Safety Code, and associated regulations applicable to hazardous materials management, hazardous waste storage, pollution prevention.

Position Summary: Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS) are seeking two full-time (40 hours/week, 9.5 months in duration position) Post-doctoral Therapists for the 2010-11 academic years. We are looking for competent clinicians who would like to join a dynamic staff for the 2010-11 academic years who are passionate about the services they provide to students. (Anticipated start date of August 2, 2010, extending through May 13, 2011).
The Claremont University Consortium serves The Claremont Colleges, seven private independent colleges and universities serving a highly selective student body. The Claremont Colleges are located in the charming town of Claremont, which is 40 miles east of Los Angeles in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains and less than an hour from several local beaches. The Colleges are comprised of Pomona College, Scripps College, Harvey Mudd College, Claremont McKenna College, Pitzer College, the Keck Institute, and Claremont Graduate University.
Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services is one of three services in Student Health and Counseling Services, and are staffed by licensed, doctoral-level senior-staff psychologists, who provide supervision for the post-doctoral therapists and pre-doctoral interns. MCAPS works collaboratively with two other student services: Student Health Services, and Health Education & Outreach.
Position Type: Temp, full-time, benefits eligible. Post- doctoral staff members are eligible for medical, dental, life insurance, and retirement benefits (employer contribution equal to 10% of annual salary).
Stipend: The stipend for 9.5 months is $25,000. Four weeks of leave time is scheduled over winter break. Reimbursement for professional liability insurance is available. Reimbursement and release time for professional development may be available, upon approval
The full-time post-doctoral experience is structured such that it meets all requirements for the 1500 hours of post-doctoral Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) necessary for licensure in California. Note that it is the post-doctoral candidate’s responsibility to determine whether this placement will meet the requirements for licensure in other states, as some states require more than 1500 hours of SPE and may have additional regulations regarding these hours.

Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services consist of 13 clinicians, including the trainees. Supervision is provided by licensed, doctoral-level, senior staff members. In addition to the 2 part-time pre-doctoral interns, we also train 2 full-time post-doctoral staff therapists.

Training: Psychology interns are provided a minimum of 2 hours of individual, face-to-face supervision weekly. Position Summary:
The Communications Officer (C/O) serves as the primary communication link for the majority of Campus Safety calls for service and assistance received either by telephone, radio, or in person; and transmits and receives radio calls from field personnel. The C/O is the “life-line” for patrol personnel, researching information, and making necessary notifications to appropriate staff campus-wide during and after regular business hours. Represents the colleges’ interests at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and depositions. Addresses and responds to subpoena requests.
Reviews and recommends appropriate cost containment techniques including strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall cost of claims to the colleges.
Proactively coordinates with constituents throughout the colleges to provide supervisor and employee training regarding workers’ compensation law, claims reporting, safety issues and transitional or modified work assignments.

Assist in installation of major new refrigeration systems.
Be cognizant of OSHA, CAL OSHA, EPA and other regulatory safety rules and insure personnel compliance.
Operate as lead journey person on large projects using blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, specifications and other related technical data.
A thorough understanding of refrigeration thermodynamic and psychometric principles is required.
Must posses a thorough understanding of various types of large and small refrigeration units made by various manufactures and be able determine if they are operating per manufactures recommendations and specifications.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years experience demonstrating the ability to apply the techniques and skills of the craft including installation, repairs, maintenance and overhauls of such systems is requited. Applicants who have successfully completed an apprenticeship vocational/ trade or college courses may be given preference.
Requirements:
Universal EPA and R410A refrigerant certification are required.
Must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license and be insurable under the Claremont Colleges insurance.
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Available to be contacted by telephone during non-working hours for emergency work.
Must be available for overtime work, rotating on call pager duty, shift and weekend work when requested.
Possess communication skills including general ability to read, comprehend and write the English language.
Mathematical skills to include as a minimum ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, determine linear measurements, compute areas and volumes of conventional shapes and forms, compute approximate weight of objects as well as all applicable HVAC/Refrigeration formulas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Climb ladders, crawl in attics and under buildings, lift and carry heavy equipment up to 100 lbs, able to bend, stoop and work in uncomfortable positions. Physically capable of working under all weather conditions.
