The Claremont University Consortium invites nominations and applications for the position of Director, Campus Safety.
Claremont University Consortium (CUC) is the central coordinating and support organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California. Originally established in 1925 as part of Claremont University Center, in July 2000, CUC incorporated as a freestanding tax-exempt organization with a visionary Chief Executive Officer, committed Board of Overseers, and 300 full-time employees.
The Director, Campus Safety reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and in turn, is responsible for overseeing a department of 33 employees (28 FTE). The Department of Campus Safety is responsible for safeguarding the persons and property of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to The Claremont Colleges. The Director of Campus Safety, under supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational and financial functions in the Department and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as campus policies and procedures. The Director coordinates and administers daily activities through supervisory personnel. The Director of Campus Safety will be responsible for developing and implementing a core set of policies and procedures derived from Campus Safety Best Practices that will be applied to The Claremont Colleges as a whole.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years experience in law enforcement, college, and university security, or related field, including a minimum of five years experience at the management level. He/she must have excellent communications (written and verbal) skills to include the ability to deal effectively with all levels of people within The Claremont Colleges community and to relate in an open, direct, and informal manner. Effective organizational and managerial skills are required, including the ability to set vision based on a service orientation, goals and objectives and monitor performance. The candidate will be a good mentor with a “roll your sleeves up” approach and the ability to build teams, and develop and empower employees. Additionally, he/she must have demonstrated skills in law enforcement administration, budget management, police procedures, emergency preparedness methods and processes, personnel development, strategic planning, and policy development, including knowledge of local, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and codes. A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field is required.

Position Summary: Work under the supervision of the Café Lead and Café Supervisor. This position requires independence, flexibility, the ability to work alone and work assigned shifts, including weekends, late nights, and early mornings. The Café Barista will be responsible for taking orders from customers and expediting coffee-espresso drinks and related food and beverage items, acutely preparing all orders, rotating product for maximum quality. Handles food according to HACCP guidelines and is aware of minimum standards for a quality food service operation. Adhere to standard recipes and plating/ portion guidelines. Interact with customers and other employees in a friendly and courteous manner. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are highly recommended.
Position Type and Compensation: Part-time (18 hours per week), temporarily position, non-benefits eligible, with varying work schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends. Hourly rate: maximum of $9.00 - $10.00
Essential Functions:
Perform barista duties as trained using established recipes.
Greet and wait on customers, answer questions about products and services, fill customer orders
Prepare and maintain all supplies and cleanliness of the entire Café service area and all Café machines.
Assist in Opening/closing by securing all food and beverages, cash, and supplies within the Café.
Stock all related merchandise products properly and in an organized fashion.
Perform cash register transactions; reconcile cash drawer before and after each shift.
Must prepare all food and beverages to local and State Health Department regulations and procedures.
Ensure that all departmental customer service goals are met or exceeded.
Requirements:
Must have F.A.C.T. certification or a valid local Food Handler’s Permit.
6 months related training as Barista or restaurant customer service experience preferred.
High School Diploma/ GED
Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Able to operate a cash register, coffee machine, espresso machine, blended, oven.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, push, stoop, twist, stretch, and lift up to 50lbs from ground to waist level without assistance.
Must be able to work well with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and co-workers.
Uniform will be required; shirt, hat, and apron will be provided and must maintain a neat and professional image at all times.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to learn within a prescribed training period the basics of operating all equipment in the Café.
Ability to do basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and dived) in all units of measure and currency.

Position Summary: Work under the supervision of all Enterprise Services management with direct report to the Copy Center Senior /Lead Assistant. This position requires independence, flexibility, and the ability to work alone and as a team in order to complete customer copy/printing requests. Preparing, printing, and finishing customer documents to ensure maximum quality within quick turnaround timeframes. Assist in maintain equipment and supplies for the Copy Center. Interact with customers and other employees in a friendly and courteous manner.
Position Type and Compensation: Part-time (18 hours per week), temporary position, non- benefits eligible. Schedule to be arranged by supervisor with some flexibility within set guidelines. Hourly rate: maximum $9.00 - $10.00
Essential Functions:
Employment is contingent on successful complete of employment, criminal, and credit background checks.
Operate the cash register, desk-top computer, photocopiers, printers and faxes.
Check and replenish supplies for all machines in the Copy Center.
Correctly process customer requests received over the counter, via E-mail, and by phone.
Answer all oncoming phone calls and monitor voice mail message throughout the day.
Clear fines for students using circulation software program.
As needed, be available for training in basic skills of operating equipment and performing routine service for all Copy Center equipment.
Assist in opening/ closing the center by reconciling the cash drawer, preparing the machines, following all procedures and processes.
