Stress Reduction
- “Stress Free Zone”
- Materials including a variety of portable massages available for check-out. To request the “stress free zone” for your dorm or organization, please fill out a Program Request Form.

Massage Chair
- Stress:
- According to the Claremont Colleges National College Health Assessment (NCHA) Data, stress is the number one impediment to academic performance. To help alleviate stress, HEO has created a “Relaxation Room” for individual student use. The room features the OSIM Millennium Massage Chair, a full body massage chair with 4 powerful massage rollers that work along your back and 10 air bags that extend the massage from your lower back to the seat and calves. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed and could benefit from a good massage, stop by our office.

Coordination of American College Health Association — National College Health Assessment
The National College Health Assessment (NCHA) is a national research effort organized by the American College Health Association (ACHA) to provide a comprehensive picture of student health, behaviors, and perceptions. The instrument has been extensively tested for reliability and validity, and has been used by numerous institutions of higher education across the country.
Claremont Colleges 2008 NCHA highlights (n=1,608)
- 70% of students surveyed described their health as very good or excellent.
- 80% of Claremont College students reported exercising within last week
- Academic Impediments
- 35% of students reported Stress as impacting their academics,
- 30% of students reported Cold/flu/sore as impacting their academics
- 27% of students reported Sleep Difficulties as impacting their academics
- 22% of students reported Internet Use as impacting their academics
- Substance Use
- 87% of students have not used tobacco in past month or in life
- 75% of students have not used marijuana in past month or in life
- 23% of students have not drank alcohol in past month or in life
