The Community Service Fair connects representatives from local nonprofit organizations, students, Claremont Colleges personnel, and members of the extended community to explore volunteer and internship opportunities. To encourage this connection and facilitate mutual understanding we have designed two informational workshops to discuss the nuances associated with gaining student participation in nonprofit organizations.

Specific Goals & Objectives

  • Increase student's awareness of community needs, service opportunities, and the value of service.

  • Provide a mechanism that facilitates the recruitment of volunteers from the Claremont Colleges and the surrounding communities.

  • Encourage interactions between nonprofit organizations and The Claremont Colleges.

  • Provide an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to network with each other and explore similar issues.

Overview of Event

  • Workshops for nonprofit organizations: these training sessions are relevant to the needs of community based organizations. Possible topics for this year's fair include: Working with Claremont Colleges students volunteers and interns and non-profit management.

  • Resource Fair: Representatives from participating organizations display information about their organization and their volunteer opportunities. Students have a chance to make connections with the representatives and discover opportunities that interest them.
