Feb. 9: Reading to Kids
            Help build a love of reading with underserved LA school children!.

Feb. 23: Trail Restoration!
            Help remove a tree which is blocking the Chapman Trail in beautiful Mt. Baldy! 
            Time: 9 AM - 3:00 pm

Mar. 1: Prison Library Project
            Come see what the program is all about and help send books to prisoners!

• Hero Afterschool Program: Tutor and mentor children at a local school.
            Frequency: Every day

• Pomona Partners: Work at Fremont Middle School
            Frequency: Friday afternoons

Tutoring @ LAC: Tutor local high school students.  There is a particular need for math tutors. 
            Frequency: Thursdays, 6:30-10:30

SOVA Trips: Help with stocking and distribution at local food bank. 
            Frequency: Fridays, 1-4 pm

Other opportunities:

• CLASP (the Claremont After School Tutoring Program) needs tutors!  The program offers after school help to children in grades K-6 on Mondays through Thursdays at four local sites!  Email Adrienne Kijak for more information, adrienne@kijak.netPosted 2/6

There will be another info session for School on Wheels on Dec. 5 at 9 pm in the Hub @ CMC.  SOW is an organization that tutors homeless children at two locations within 10 minutes of campus once a week. FMI, email jzavaleta10@cmc.edu Posted 12/3

The Fall Regional Games of the Special Olympics are being held at Claremont McKenna College. If you are interested in volunteering to help make the games a success, right now there are three major tasks for which volunteers are needed. They need: 1) 2 groups of 4 people to line fields (one Friday the 5th in the afternoon, the other the afternoon of Saturday the 6th) 2) 6-10 people to help with the Volleyball games on Saturday 3) 3-4 people to help with set-up on Sunday morning (starting at 5:30 AM) If you are able to help, please email Keri Sanchez at keri.sanchez@cms.claremont.edu. • The Boys and Girls Club of Pomona is in need of volunteers for their Education Center.  Tutors in all disciplines are needed, but math tutors are in particularly high demand.  Bilingual is a plus, but not a requirement.  Students are primarily between ages of 6-12.  The Center is open from Monday through Thursday, from 4-6 pm.  Tutor schedules are very flexible, from once a week to even once a month.  To sign-up or FMI, please contact Heather Williams at 909-963-8538.  Posted 9/27
