Key Result Area 3: Neutral Center for Entrepreneurship and Experimentation

CUC is always looking for new services that it can offer to The Claremont Colleges and to all the people who work and study here. If you have an idea for a new business enterprise that the CUC could engage in to the benefit of the Claremont College community, we’d like to hear from you.

The types of ideas we are looking for are for new businesses that provide a service that people or institutions would actually be willing to buy. Individuals would buy the service directly from CUC, and the colleges could pay for the service through some formula funding.

Your idea for a new enterprise could be anything and need in no way be related to your particular job duties or course of study. Some ideas that CUC has received already, and in some cases have already implemented, include:

  • Satellite Uplink at Honnold Library for hosting news conferences
  • Records Center for storage of seldom used paper files
  • Dry Cleaning service at “Connections”
  • Child Day Care Center for use by college staff and students
  • Sick-child day care facility
  • In-house training instructor for emergency operations certification

If you have an idea for a new CUC enterprise, tell us about it briefly below:

  1. What is your name and email address?
  2. How does the concept fit the CUC’s strengths?
  3. Is it a new product or service (i.e. something we are not doing now)?
  4. Is it a product or service that someone will likely value and pay for?
  5. If so, who would buy this new service?
  6. How would this product or service add value to TCC or CUC?

Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
