Joel Cinnamon was appointed Director of the Claremont University Consortium (CUC) Design Center on January 31, 2011.
Mr. Cinnamon, in partnership with the CEO, conceived and created the CUC Design Center, a dynamic design and new-media resource for The Claremont Colleges, the Claremont community and a roster of select, external clients. the Design Center functions as a unique revenue stream for the Consortium, fulfilling the goals of key result areas established in the multi-year CUC Strategic Planning Process: building market competitiveness of services; building the financial value of services; building a center for entrepreneurship and experimentation; and building national reputation and branding. In his role as Director of the Design Center, Mr. Cinnamon was responsible for redesigning and implementing the new, vibrant CUC branded identity, which has positioned Claremont University Consortium at the forefront of current consortial leadership across the country. A leader of the CUC Strategic Planning Process, Mr. Cinnamon manages all design, branding and marketing efforts of the Consortium
Prior to joining CUC, Mr. Cinnamon was the owner and principle of Cinnamon Design, a Claremont-based business, for 27 years. Cinnamon Design provided graphic design services including branding, environmental and interactive design to a diverse range of clients in support of communication and branding strategies. Mr. Cinnamon also donated his services to the community at large, delivering design assistance to local nonprofits through his work with the Claremont Educational Foundation, the Claremont Community Foundation and House of Ruth Domestic Violence Agency.
Mr. Cinnamon previously held several positions at First Interstate Bank of California as a designer in the advertising department and as art director for the holding company, responsible for the bank’s collateral materials for California and 11 western states.
Mr. Cinnamon received his design education at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
