Board of Overseers As a not-for-profit educational support organization, Claremont University Consortium is governed by a Board of Overseers which has legal responsibility for: a) Planning and development for the broad advancement of The Claremont Colleges; b) Promoting the founding, from time to time, of additional colleges or other educational institutions to enhance the educational quality of The Claremont Colleges; c) Promoting cooperation among all The Claremont Colleges to enhance the overall educational excellence of the group; d) Providing central programs and facilities which are operating on behalf of The Claremont Colleges; e) Conducting or directing the business and affairs of the corporation. The Board of Overseers consists of the presidents and chairs of the boards of trustees of the seven Claremont Colleges, the Chief Executive Officer and seven to eleven at-large members. Chair to The Board is Dr. Robert Tranquada, M.D. The Board meets at least three times annually to conduct its business.
