| Jonathan Lew Assistant to the CEO & Secretary to the Board Jonathan Lew joined the Claremont University Consortium (CUC) as Assistant to the CEO & Secretary to the Board in August 2002. He provides essential staff support to the CEO on a broad range of CUC matters, including serving as both Secretary to the CUC Board of Overseers as well as Secretary to the Council of The Claremont Colleges. In those capacities, Mr. Lew is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of meetings, maintaining records of proceedings, and ensuring timely communication of Board and Council actions to the appropriate constituencies. In addition, he works with the Claremont Educational Partnership, an agreement between the The Claremont Colleges and the Claremont Unified School District to promote increased cooperation through avenues such as volunteer tutoring by college students, service learning opportunities, facility/resource sharing, and other collaborative efforts. Mr. Lew has had many years of experience at both private and public institutions of higher education. After graduating with a B.A. in Economics and Government from Claremont McKenna College, he went on to work at the University of California at Irvine for the UCI Writing Project, a staff development program for K-12 schoolteachers. In 1997, Mr. Lew began work at Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, California) in the Office of Multi-Ethnic Programs. As Director of Multi-Ethnic Programs, he provided leadership for programs that supported students of color and promoted awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity on campus. He later served as Special Assistant to the Associate Provost & the Vice President of Student Life, playing an integral role in initiating and implementing various campus diversity projects. In addition, Mr. Lew earned a M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Biola University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education at Claremont Graduate University. He has been a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), Association of Christians in Student Development (ACSD), Association for Institutional Research (AIR), and Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE). |
