WHY was the Educational Partnership formed?
- The Claremont Educational Partnership was formed in the belief that an effective
cooperation would benefit the Community, the School District and the Colleges.
- BENEFIT TO THE COMMUNITY: A strong public school system in Claremont enriches the
community and develops well informed leaders for the next generation.
- BENEFIT TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT: Provides greater access to the resources of the Colleges
through programs such as:
- Sharing in college-based programs
- Volunteer services of college students
- Faculty development opportunities
- Use of technology in education
- Advanced coursework for students
- Expanded library resources
- BENEFIT TO THE COLLEGES: Enhances the educational development and professional growth of
students and faculty by providing:
- Information on student education programs
- "Hands-on" experience in classroom learning for students
- Interaction with instructors of future college students
- Opportunities for personal growth for students and faculty through community service
WHAT type of activities are involved?
- The Partnership has chosen to focus its efforts on the following areas of emphasis:
- Faculty/staff development (of professional skills) through cooperative college - school
district programs.
- Pre-professional training/experience for student volunteers in tutorial/internship
programs.
- Service learning and other community service opportunities through the efforts of the
Volunteer Coordinators Program.
- Facility/resource sharing (especially in the technology area which affords the school
district access to the college computer resources).
- Program sharing with the school district in such areas as the arts, music and health
education.
- Diversity and international awareness through programs such as the new "World of
Cultures" program at the Colleges' International Place.
